At the "Medical Device Industry Development Forum" held recently, Liu Diankui, deputy director of the Planning and Finance Department of the Ministry of Health, said that during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the development of domestic medical devices will be strongly supported. When centralized bidding and procurement is implemented, domestic medical devices will be preferentially purchased. Liu Diankui also said that the reform of the medical and health system has provided unprecedented opportunities and broad development space for the development of the domestic medical device industry. During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, medical institutions will be used to effectively guide medical institutions to use domestic medical devices.
Primary medical institutions have large market space
According to reports, from 2012 to 2015, the central government will consider supporting grassroots medical institutions to carry out basic equipment allocation, strengthen the test capacity building of provincial, county and third-level disease control centers, the construction of public health professional prevention institutions and the construction of occupational health prevention and control institutions, and Necessary equipment; here, the rural first aid system will be continuously improved, ambulances and necessary first-aid equipment will gradually increase; gynecological treatment instruments, infrared breast transilluminators, fetal ECG monitors and semi-automatic biochemical analyzers in provincial, county and third-level maternal and child health institutions It is expected to be equipped with key points; the allocation of health education equipment in primary health care institutions has also been included in the central government's consideration of the project content, and the equipment construction of the medical and health personnel training base has also been taken into consideration.
At the same time, the central government will also consider supporting the construction of national and provincial medical and health centers and supporting the provision of advanced medical equipment, providing equipment support for the construction of clinical key specialties, and building a national, provincial and prefecture-level health information platform.
Liu Diankui pointed out that in the centralized procurement projects carried out by the Ministry of Health, the winning equipment is mainly domestically produced. When formulating equipment allocation standards for primary medical institutions and arranging equipment investment, it will insist on the calculation based on domestic medical equipment with relatively low price. Promote local procurement of domestic medical equipment. In 2011, a total of 720 million yuan was invested in the construction of rural emergency systems, 500 million yuan was invested in the construction of general training bases, and 100 million yuan was invested in the construction of food safety risk monitoring systems.
Imported equipment still dominates the market
China's medical device market has huge space. Cai Tianzhi, director of the Medical Devices Division of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products, said that there are currently 1,708 state-owned enterprises involved in the medical device market in China, 4,875 foreign-funded enterprises and 18,022 private enterprises. Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Beijing and Zhejiang are the concentrated areas of medical equipment trade in China. The five provinces and cities account for more than 70% of China's medical equipment trade. However, compared with foreign medical device companies, domestic medical device companies are still in a weak position. From January to April 2011, China's high-importance medical device products were mainly in the middle and high-end. Taking CT equipment as an example, in 2010, GE, Siemens, Philips, Neusoft and Toshiba accounted for 92% of the domestic market; for MRI equipment, GE, Siemens and Philips accounted for more than 50% of the domestic market.
